Big Creek Greenway

The Big Creek Greenway is a 6.5-mile-long trail that runs from Marietta to Alpharetta, with about four miles of that running along Big Creek. The Greenway is paved, and it’s mostly flat, which makes it great for walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and roller skaters. The paved trail is part of the Atlanta BeltLine Trail, which circles Atlanta, and hikers can follow the BeltLine Trail north and connect with the Big Creek Greenway.

Located to the east of Alpharetta, the Big Creek Greenway hosts 4.2 miles of bike and pedestrian trails, and seven bridges, and is lined with trees. The Greenway was created as a project of the Big Creek Watershed Protection Trust with the goal of providing residents with a nature trail close to their homes, and a big step toward providing a healthy environment for our region.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit, Big Creek Greenway has a wonderful interactive map that will help you plan your visit. The free, 90-minute tour is given on Saturdays at 11 am, and the group will stop at the Big Creek Greenway pavilion at the beginning of the trail, making sure you don’t miss the rest of your day.
