Lewis Park, located in Marietta, Georgia, is a delightful 56-acre park with something for everyone: baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, a playground, picnic areas, a dog park, a lake, a walking trail, a fitness trail, and crazy golf. Lewis Park is also home to the Marietta/Cobb Amateur Radio Club, which maintains ham radio repeaters in the park.
It is a 1,750-acre park that occupies 20 communities in Atlanta, Georgia. The communities that make up the park include Morningside Park, Hill Park, Morningside Heights, New City, and Grant Park. Its large facilities include a recreation center, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, pavilions, a lake, playgrounds, and a dog park.
Lewis Park, also called the Rainbow Park, is a playground of playgrounds! It’s over 6 acres of attractions and play structures, including a small skatepark, a play gym, a sensory garden, a climbing pyramid, swings, a slide, and a zip line. The Rainbow Park playground was designed in 1997 by a group of local parents and the city of Marietta and was the first playground in the United States with a sensory garden that serves people with special needs. The sensory garden consists of a large, flat area of mulch with a variety of natural and man-made objects, including rocks, concrete, sand, and water. A sensory garden is a place where people with special needs can come to relax.
The Playground at Lewis Park has a lot to offer! It’s a huge, hilly park with a nice walking/jogging path around it. There are lots of trees, beautiful picnic areas, a playground, and an amphitheater. There is also a separate dog park and a section of the park called the “Nature Center” which is a cool place to go if you are looking to learn about the animals in the area. It’s a great place to bring a picnic lunch!
Lewis Park is the best tennis court in Marietta, Georgia. It’s a beautiful, public facility that’s a joy to play on. There are plenty of courts and lots of parking, and the people who run the place are wonderful.
Pickleball is a paddle sport in which players use a perforated plastic ball and a wooden paddle to hit the ball over a net. The sport was created in the 1960s when a retiree in Washington state sought a sport to play in his backyard. By the 1970s and 1980s, the sport had spread to both the United States and Canada. Pickleball is played recreationally by about 4 million people in the United States.
Amenities at Lewis Park include a playground, practice fields, a lake, and public art. The lake provides a welcome source of shade in the summer and is a great place to walk the dog around in the winter. The playground is a standard city park playground with both large and small play components. The greenway next to the park is a fantastic place to let the kids burn off excess energy. Located in the old Marietta High School, the building has a similar look and feel to the West End Library, with lots of natural light and plenty of room for activities.
