Northside Hospital Atlanta
Northside Hospital Atlanta, formerly known as Northside Hospital, is one of the largest not-for-profit health care providers in the Metro Atlanta area. The hospital is located in the heart of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and was founded by Northside Hospital of Atlanta in 1957.
It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community hospital, serving the greater metropolitan Atlanta area for more than 100 years. The hospital operates as a joint venture between Northside Hospital and the Northside HealthCare System, which includes Northside Physician Group, Northside Medical Associates, Northside Orthopedics, Northside Urology, Northside Behavioral Medicine, Northside Women’s Care, Northside Wound Care Center, and Northside Rehabilitation Hospital, among others.
This hospital was opened in 2015 and is a subsidiary of Northside Hospital and Northside Hospital-Forsyth. The hospital has a capacity of 100 beds and 1,200 employees. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. The emergency department is open 24 hours a day. The hospital provides care to patients in the following areas: emergency care, general surgery, gynecology, cardiology, orthopedics, urology, women’s health, pediatrics, and more. The hospital is a member of the Northside Hospital Alliance and is a member of the American Hospital Association and the Georgia Hospital Association.
In December of 1966, North Fulton Hospital located in Roswell, Georgia was incorporated. The following month, the first North Fulton Hospital opened its doors. The new facility consisted of four buildings, an administration building, a clinic, a medical building, and a nursing home. In 1973, the medical building was replaced by a new building that was two stories tall. The facility also saw its first ambulatory surgery center in 1973. In 1974, the North Fulton Hospital’s first helicopter began regular service. The following year, the helicopter was purchased by a hospital in New York City, but it was returned to Fulton County and the North Fulton Hospital in 1976.

The new twenty-two operating rooms of the Sandy Springs, Georgia hospital are state-of-the-art and replaced the older, smaller facilities. The surgical suites are located in the new Surgery Tower Building, which was constructed in 2013. The building is an eleven-story facility and the eighth-tallest building in Sandy Springs.
