Lake City is the largest city in White County, Georgia, United States. The Lake City metropolitan area had a population of 16,992 in the 2010 census, making it Georgia’s 83rd largest metropolitan area. It was established in 1850 as “Lake City”, and incorporated in 1959. According to the 2010 Census, 75.8% of Lake City’s population identifies as White, 8.1% as Black or African American, 3.5% as Asian, 0.6% as Native American, 0.4% as two or more races, and 0.3% as some other race.
It is a mountainous city with a rich history as a gateway to the Appalachian Trail. Situated along the banks of Lake Nottely, Lake City overlooks the North Georgia Mountains, making it a great destination for outdoor adventures; the rich architectural history, arts, and music scene; and, of course, the annual Blessing of the Bikes, which is one of the largest bike parades in the country.

During the American Civil War, Lake City was the location of Camp Lawton, a Confederate Army prisoner-of-war camp; more than 1,000 Union soldiers were held there.
