If you find yourself driving down Hwy 78, don’t let the dirty strip mall exterior and the old sign fool you. This place is legit and the food was great. I tried the chicken fajitas and they were cooked perfectly. The meat was very tender. The salsa was delicious and the guacamole was some of the best I’ve ever had.

I’m not sure if it’s summer, Southern life, or a combination of the two, but my friends and I were craving a few margaritas at a Mexican restaurant recently. On a recent Friday night, we headed to Sombreros Mexican Cantina, a busy chain restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia, just west of Atlanta. Sombreros Mexican Cantina is located in a strip mall, with a large patio and a lively bar inside. When you walk in, the interior is bright and colorful, with a few large booths for big parties. The service was friendly, and the food was quick.
There are only a few restaurants in the Atlanta area that are truly authentic and family-owned. Margaritas of Sombreros is definitely one of them. The owner and head chef, Luis, is a Mexican native and a true believer in the power of food. He genuinely thanks me every time I dine there, and you can tell that he takes pride in every item on his menu. All of the ingredients are fresh, and I love the food’s presentation. It’s also very affordable.
It is a family-owned restaurant that prepares traditional dishes from the interior of Mexico and the Baja Peninsula. While the restaurant serves a variety of dishes, the traditional and most popular ones are the Tacos al Pastor and the Carnitas. The Tacos al Pastor are made of marinated pork with bits of pineapple and served on handmade corn tortillas. The Carnitas are braised pork with a rich adobo sauce and served on homemade corn tortillas.
This is our first Mexican cantina, which is a casual restaurant, so we wanted to offer a good experience for families. We encourage the mums and dads to sit and relax with the children. We have televisions, so the kids can watch their favorite shows. We also have a video game system with some of the most popular games. Kids are welcome to play while they wait for their food or while they eat.
